Reading, Writing, and Speaking Assessment (ClassPak)
Listening Assessment
Instructions: You will need to administer the appropriate assessment to your students. You should use other data and knowledge of your students to determine which level to administer. If you do not have a clear sense of where your students should be performing, then you should administer the Level I test to your students. You should administer the next leveled assessment, either higher or lower, depending on how your students perform. For example, if you have a student who receives a proficiency rating on the Level I test, you should administer the Level II test. If you have a student that scores very low on the Level III test, then you should administer the Level II test. Administer leveled tests until you have a solid definition of your students' performance level.
Additional administration instructions are provided in the individual assessments.
Scoring the Assessments
After administering the assessments for each communication area (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), you will need to score the assessments. Use the instructions provided for each assessment to determine the raw score for each student for each assessment. Additional guidance for interpreting the raw scores for each assessment and for using student levels to group students and set instructional goals will be provided during your session and on the electronic versions of Handouts 3.13 and 3.14.
